The chamber can hold up to 110ml of water for more than 90ml o coffee extraction. Enough to brewing up to two doppio/lungo in a single shot (Approximately 45ml each).
You can prepare up to two long espressos. You can also prepare a coffee of more than 90ml. That's a lot of coffee!.
You will receive a Strad Espresso Maker assembled.
The Strad Espresso Maker measures are:
H 300mm / L 300mm / W 187mm.
Please visita the FEATURES page for more information.
Of course! The Strad Espresso Maker is compatible with group E61 portafilter. You can also use the shower and silicone gasket from the same group.
However, please note that that if the group gasket installed on the Strad is 8.5mm, filter holders with ears between 6mm and 7mm can be used. If the group gasket is 8mm, then you can use the ones with 7.2 ears, they are the classics of the E61 group.
Your Strad accepts group gasket from 8mm to 9mm. Surely other measures can be placed, but we have not tested how they work.
Your Strad may come with a E61 standard 6.5mm ear filter holder or with a traditional E61 filter holder with 7.2mm thick ears. If your Strad comes with a traditional E61 filter holder, the group gasket will be 8mm thick. However, we include an 8.5mm group gasket in the box in case you want to use an standard model or a different type of filter holder.
For E61 Standard Portafilters:NOTE: We call "Standard" to the most currently used filter holders. Generally with ears ranging between 5.5mm and 6.8mm. On the other hand, when we say "Traditional" E61 filter holder, we are referring to the classic medels originally used by the E61 group, whose ear thickness is usually greater than 7mm.
The Strad is a professional-grade manual lever machine and therefore requires a small learning curve, like any professional equipment. However, even if you have no prior experience with this type of machine, with a bit of practice and the right tools, you’ll soon be making excellent espresso.
Please note that achieving a great espresso requires a high-quality grinder and fresh coffee beans, preferably specialty coffee.
So, if you're a true coffee lover and are willing to craft your espresso completely by hand, then the Strad might just be your machine for life.
The Strad is manufactured in Barcelona, Spain, using CNC machining techniques—the same precision methods used to make critical components in the aerospace and aviation industries.
However, some of its components and accessories, such as the shower screen, portafilter, and tamper, are made in Italy.
The Strad comes standard with an Italian-made IMS competition shower screen. However, it is compatible with any E61-style shower screen.
It has been shown that chromed brass portafilters perform better with manual espresso machines. Why? Simply because they retain heat much more effectively. Once heated, they stay warm longer, giving you more leeway during the manual extraction process.
Portafilters made of chromed brass are also widely used in the professional machines found in cafés. They are the best choice for any machine that uses water to heat the group head.
The Strad Espresso Maker has been designed to last for many many years. However, in some cases even metals can suffer some type of aesthetic deterioration over time. We offer a ten-year warranty on steel and aluminum parts in case of breakage.
Strad Espresso Maker, SL., is a limited company founded in Barcelona, Spain, and is responsible for the production and marketing of the coffee maker of the same name.
The Strad is a manual lever machine. Its essence is the completely artisanal production of coffee. We have not included an electric preheating unit because we consider that in practical terms it is not necessary.
Preheating in the Strad usually takes between 40 and 60 seconds. However, in order to take advantage of the preheating done by an electric unit, it is necessary to wait between 7 and 15 minutes. Some YouTubers recommend up to 20 minutes.
On the other hand, it has been shown that machines with electric preheating units require a change of O-rings with some frequency if intensive use is made.
However, if at any time we decide to make an electric preheating unit, you can be 100% sure that we would develop an add-on that can be easily adapted to the existing Strad model.
The thread of the group where the pressure gauge is placed is 1/8.
Yes, you can use a T splitter with the following characteristics: 1/8 male thread for the group, 1/8 female thread for the Strad pressure gauge, and the necessary thread for the digital sensor model you have.
If it is a Pressensor, simply indicate that you want it for a Strad, and they will provide you with the appropriate adapter.
There is no need to maintain your Strad Espresso Maker. To clean it you can pour hot water and then let it out by lifting the lever as is done during pre-heating. Additionally, you can clean the shower screen with a cloth after each use. This is all!
The O-ring usually lasts for many years. However, if you have to replace it, simply remove the screws that hold the connecting rod with the lever and remove the piston.
We know that some types of manual lever machines, due to the design of their mechanism, usually have the lever facing up. However, this is not necessary on the Strad.
The natural position of the Strad lever is downward. This eliminates unnecessary movement of having to lower it to pour the water. It also prevents the piston seal from sliding without being lubricated by water. However, the most important thing is that if you have placed the filter holder with the coffee, when you lower the lever without water, the air crosses through the coffee, weakening the the coffee puck and causing possible channeling.
For everything explained above, remember: when you start the lever it is down. When finished the lever remains down.
Don't forget to drain the rest of the coffee before removing the portafilter. This will make the coffee puck practically dry.
No. You do not need to apply any special lubricant to the piston O-ring of your Strad.
If you have replaced the O-ring or simply need to reposition the piston after removing it, there is no need to apply grease. To help the piston slide more smoothly, you can moisten the O-ring with a bit of water. That’s all it takes.
Please note that the Strad has been meticulously designed to last as long as possible, including its silicone components. In this regard, it's worth knowing that the pressure applied by the O-ring is only about 0.4 to 0.5 millimeters—just enough to do its job efficiently without causing excessive friction that could shorten its lifespan.
