The Strad Espresso Maker is a robust machine designed to last for many years. That is why we have not hesitated to build solid CNC machined parts. Even so, the Strad barely weighs 3.4kg, an acceptable weight for a machine with these characteristics.
The Strad Espresso Maker weighs about 3.4 kilograms regardless of the portafilter. Including the portafilter, it can weigh about 3.7kg depending on its model, type and materials.
The maximum height of the machine is 30cm (with the lever down) and the depth of the base measures exactly the same. The lever with the included handle can measure about 36cm and without the handle it measures just over 22cm.
However, when lifting the lever, from the tip of the handle, the height can reach up to 54cm.
We know we've already said it. But we are proud to have created what is, possibly, the most standard manual lever machine on the market.
Therefore: on this machine you can use almost any portafilter that is E61 compatible. You can buy the silicone piston gasket anywhere (38x6mm/OD 50mm). And of course you can purchase the shower and gasket from any distributor or manufacturer that sells compatible E61.
The chamber can hold up to 110ml of water for more than 90ml o coffee extraction. Enough to brewing up to two doppio/lungo in a single shot (Approximately 45ml each).
The workflow should mirror the traditional process followed by any barista using this type of machine—nothing more, nothing less. This means working with a standard portafilter, properly tamping the coffee grounds, and pulling the shot manually. The consistency and precision of this hands-on approach are what make a great coffee. Personally, we need a real portafilter when making my coffee every morning, as it allows me to follow this authentic, time-honored method.
